Current research projects

International Relations : The production of mobility options: Migration and border management in the framework of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union

Sub-project B2 of the DFG Collaborative Research Center "Production of Migration" examines the production of mobility options in the course of migration and border management between the European Union (EU) and two Eastern European states (Ukraine and Moldova). It examines negotiation processes for the establishment and design of regulatory infrastructures.

International Political Economy : Promotional banks as transformation banks?

The sub-project of the Climate Finance Society network examines the climate policy role of (sub-)national development banks in Germany and France and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the Sustainable Finance & Climate Protection (SFCP) program line.

European Integration | Economic Sociology : EcoRisk Research Training Group

The DFG Research Training Group 'Ecological Regime Shifts and Systemic Risk in Coupled Social-Ecological Systems (ECORISK)' investigates the causes and consequences of ecological regime shifts in social-ecological systems. The IfS is involved with two sub-projects.

European Integration : Sustainability governance of global value chains

The effects, potentials and limits of sustainability governance in global value chains are being investigated in the research area funded by the state of Lower Saxony and the Volkswagen Foundation. This includes the analysis of supply chain laws and other regulations, the development of alternative design proposals and the derivation of recommendations for action for the stakeholder groups involved.

Interdisciplinary research facility : Center for the Study of Conflict & Peace

Based at the Institute of Social Sciences, the Research Center combines research, teaching and public activities on issues of conflict and peace - whether at international, national or local level. CeCoP is also home to the international Master's program Conflict Studies and Peacebuilding.

Interdisciplinary research facility : Institute for Migration Studies (IMIS)

Founded in 1990, the Institute for Migration Studies (IMIS) focuses on various aspects of
spatial mobility and intercultural encounters in the past and present. IMIS is home to the DFG Collaborative Research Center Production of Migration (SFB 1604), the research area Futures of Migration (FuturMig) and the international Master's program International Migration and Intercultural Relations (IMIB).
