IMIS-Highlights 2025
2025 was another very productive year at IMIS. In our new annual review, we present some 'highlights' - from research projects, teaching, science communication and the Master International Migration and Intercultural Relations (IMIB).
Whether award-winning publications, project extensions, network maintenance or activities abroad - our 'highlights' give an impression of the fields in which IMIS is active. For example, our Collaborative Research Center "Production of Migration", in which many IMIS members are involved, has been running since 2024. Intensive field research phases at home and abroad were on the agenda for numerous researchers in 2025. At the same time, work in the new Lower Saxony research area "Futures of Migration" (FuturMig) began in 2025, while we were able to congratulate other projects such as "Flight and Refugee Research - Networking and Transfer" (FFVT) on a successful extension application. We were also able to expand our activities in the field of science communication thanks to new (personnel) resources. An association founded by students has emerged from our IMIB Master, which actively promotes constructive dialog between various social actors in the field of migration and aims to contribute to objectifying the heated debate, which is often not very fact-based. This is just one example of how our students get involved in society.
Our 'highlights' cannot provide a comprehensive picture of the activities of our members and students, but can only highlight a few examples. Many things remain invisible in this report - especially in view of the many dedicated people who work behind the scenes to organize events, coordinate daily administrative tasks or warmly welcome new colleagues, for example.
