The Inventory of Migration Terms presents key terms from current debates on migration and discusses how they have been produced historical, how they are used in different areas of society and how their meaning changes over time. The inventory has three aims: Firstly, it contributes to greater linguistic sensitivity in current debates about migration. Secondly, it provides an insight into social self-understanding processes by examining the terms used to discuss and argue about mobility and diversity. Thirdly, the inventory aims to motivate readers to engage in informed and reflective discussions about migration.
The inventory is a constantly growing online platform to which new terms are regularly added. In the long term, the inventory thus offers an extensive reservoir of conceptual analyses that allow a deeper insight into the social debate on migration.
