focus MIGRATION

Cooperation project for knowledge transfer

Migration is a key issue in loud and controversial social debates. There is therefore a great need for well-founded information about migration in the past, present and future, as well as about forced migration, asylum and integration.

Since 2011, as part of the Focus Migration project, the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at Osnabrück University has been working with the Federal Agency for Civic Education ( bpb) to present migration research findings to a broad public in a concise and accessible way.

  • How has labour migration to Germany developed?
  • What regulations apply to refugee protection?
  • To what extent does climate change influence global migration?

These and many other questions are answered by international experts. They provide information, analyses and data that can be used for teaching, political education and public discussion, and are available free of charge to all interested parties at bpb.de in the  Migration & Integration section. The contributions can be found in the following categories: ‘Migration worldwide: Data – History – Politics’, ‘Immigration, Refugees and Asylum: Current Issues’ and ‘Migration Policy – Monthly Review’.
