On April 8, 2025, another exciting discussion event took place as part of our network. This time, the focus was on the topic: "Psychological and social challenges for women in STEM doctoral programs".

We were delighted to welcome four inspiring guests:
Prof. Dr. Kerstin Bartscherer (Osnabrück University),
Dr. Lorena Göritz (DFKI Osnabrück),
Dr. Christine Pohl (City of Wuppertal) and
Dr. Judith Plümer (Osnabrück University).

In an open and appreciative atmosphere, our guests first shared personal insights into their respective career paths and reported on formative experiences during their doctoral studies - especially with regard to their role as women in a male-dominated environment. In the subsequent exchange with the audience, topics such as individual strategies in everyday doctoral life, family planning and the development of networks were discussed in a lively and committed manner.

The event was particularly enriched by the interested and active female participants, who continued the exchange not only during the discussion round, but also during the breaks with coffee and cake. In this way, the meeting not only contributed to strengthening our EmpowertMINT network in terms of content, but also interpersonally.

The event was realized with the kind support of the Equal Opportunities Office of Osnabrück University. A big thank you to everyone who took part - through their openness, their impulses and their presence. We look forward to further joint events in this circle!
