Thank you for the music: Osnabrück University bids farewell to Dr. Claudia Kayser-Kadereit

After more than 30 years of formative work, Osnabrück University will bid farewell to Dr. Claudia Kayser-Kadereit on Sunday, October 26, when she retires from teaching - or as she would say: the state of restlessness.

The fifty or so former members of the Osnabrück University symphony orchestra offer the former university music director a farewell program at their annual reunion.

"Three decades of making music together, encounters and inspiration lie behind me. I really enjoyed my time here at Osnabrück University and would like to thank all my colleagues and students from the bottom of my heart," says Claudia Kayser-Kadereit, who held the title of "UMD" from 2005 to 2023 and was jointly responsible for the University Music concert series.

Born in Hanover, she joined the Institute of Musicology and Music Education at Osnabrück University in 1992 as a lecturer in orchestral conducting and instrumental pedagogy. In 1993, Claudia Kayser-Kadereit founded the university's symphony orchestra here, which she conducted for 25 years before Joachim Siegel took over the baton and the title in 2018.

For two years now, the Alumni Orchestra of Osnabrück University e.V. association has been connecting former orchestra members, fostering shared memories and promoting collegial and friendly contacts during a musical weekend.

The Alumni Orchestra's matinee concert begins at 11 a.m. in the Schlossaula. The program includes works by Bach, Nicolai, Puccini and Shostakovich, each of whose earlier performances Dr. Claudia Kayser-Kadereit has placed in the context of a seminar and concert or a special stage presentation.

Admission to the concert is free, with Dominik Meinking as moderator. Reservations are recommended at  https://tickets.uni-osnabrueck.de.
