Since 2015 Professor of Contemporary History and Historical Migration Research at Osnabrück University.

2011-2015 Administration of the Chair of Contemporary History at Osnabrück University; Habilitation (2007) and doctorate (2001) at RWTH Aachen as a member of the LuF Economic and Social History department at the Faculty of Economics (1996-2011), previously studied Contemporary History, Economic and Social History & Information Science at Saarland University (1990-1996). 

Member of IMIS since 2011, member of the IMIS Executive Board since January 2021.
