Exception: Master of Science in Nanosciences: 3 bound copies and digital submission.
In the event of illness during the completion of a thesis, the following applies:
The medical certificate must be submitted to the Examinations Office no later than one week after the onset of the illness.
Resolution of the Examination Committee meeting on 21.11.2012
The following procedure applies to the field of biology: Students writing their bachelor's thesis in biology must clarify the admission requirements at the Biology Examinations Office and register their thesis (see forms). 120 out of 180 credit points must be proven. The thesis must be submitted to the Examinations Office.
The grades from the assessments are entered into Opium by the Biology Examinations Office. Certificates and diplomas are issued by PATMOS, the multidisciplinary examinations office.
The presentation or oral contribution of an external Master's thesis can be held at Osnabrück University. In principle, one of the two reviewers and another person authorized to conduct examinations must be present.
Resolution of the Examination Committee meeting on 5.6.2013
The following addendum is added to the resolution: If the presentation takes place at an external location, the external first reviewer and a member of staff with a doctorate (at least 3 years) from the external institution must evaluate the presentation.
Resolution of the Examination Committee meeting on 11.02.2015
Excerpt from the examination regulations:
“The assignment of a Bachelor's thesis is usually requested from the Examinations Office towards the end of the fifth semester of the Bachelor's program. The Examinations Office checks whether the requirements for starting a Bachelor's thesis have been met and informs the candidate in writing whether they have been accepted or rejected. The start of the Bachelor's thesis is usually registered with the Examinations Office at the beginning of the sixth semester.”
Resolution:
The thesis must be registered with the Examinations Office at the beginning of the thesis period. In exceptional cases, the period between receipt of the complete registration documents by the Examinations Office and submission of the thesis to the Examinations Office must be at least four weeks.
Resolution of the Examination Committee meeting 03.02.2021
Recognition of coursework credits
Once the transfer student has been accepted to study biology at Osnabrück University, they must submit a written application to the Examinations Office requesting recognition of credits already earned.
Students who wish to be placed in a higher semester for a degree programme at Osnabrück University must submit the form ‘Placement in a higher semester’ (available under Forms, Admissions Office) to the Biology Examinations Office.
In addition to the content, the scope of the coursework in ECTS or teaching hours (SWS) or equivalent credit points is decisive for the recognition of coursework completed abroad, as is the type of coursework or examination, e.g. lecture, seminar or tutorial.
