Project description
Our joint project EPIMON aims to develop an AI-based medical device that detects epileptic seizure movements at an early stage. Epilepsy affects around 1% of the population worldwide and leads to considerable restrictions in the quality of life of many of those affected. Early detection of seizures is crucial in order to initiate safety measures in good time and prevent unexpected deaths, particularly during sleep.
The project uses a system with a multi-camera hardware architecture that captures the patient's movements from different angles and analyzes them in 3D. This innovation should be able to be used both as an inpatient and in the home environment and offer patients a greater degree of freedom. Particular attention is paid to the protection of privacy and personal data, supported by a 3D anonymization solution and Edge AI technology, which ensures secure and reliable data processing.
