Your studies at our department

General information

  • High level of support: You can always contact us before and after the events. You will receive an individual appointment within a week. In very urgent cases, e.g. decisions that could delay the further progress of a project, we maintain an open-door policy. You can contact the external employees by e-mail or telephone and make an appointment at any time.
  • Feedback meetings: Following projects, seminars and presentations, we offer you the opportunity for personal feedback meetings. Please contact us for this.
  • We are very open to personal and critical discussions. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please use our mailbox at the secretary's office.

Lectures, exercises and project seminars

  • Current relevant specialist literature is ordered for the library within the scope of financial possibilities.
  • Lecture content and materials are regularly updated by us.
  • As a rule, you will find teaching materials in stud.ip two working days before the course.
  • Through our intensive research activities, we ensure that our course content is always up to date with the latest scientific developments. Application orientation is particularly important to us.
  • Bring in your ideas. For example, you can submit your own exam questions and help us to continuously adapt and develop the content.
  • Towards the end of each semester, we offer exam training for each lecture, in which we present general questions about the exams and examples of exam questions.
  • For each course we offer a download with current PDF articles, further literature and student or demo versions of the software used.
  • Course evaluations: We have all our courses evaluated and use your constructive criticism to continuously improve the quality of our teaching.
  • After correction, we also offer you the opportunity for a personal feedback discussion.

Scientific work

  • We supervise both theoretical and applied scientific  theses.
  • We have provided particularly detailed information on how to work on academic theses and give you numerous  tips and assistance.
  • If you choose a topic suggested by us, we will provide you with a large number of current and relevant PDF articles. Of course, independent literature research is necessary for a solid paper.
  • If the scientific quality is high, joint publications can result from the projects and theses. A large number of publications have already been published in collaboration with students in conference proceedings and journals.
  • You can come to us at any time with your own topic suggestions. After a discussion, the topic can usually be worked on in the form you require or in an adapted form.
  • Practical work is an excellent way to enter the profession. In cooperation with partner companies, we therefore encourage practical work.
  • After correction, we also offer you the opportunity for a personal feedback meeting.
