Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Junge
Former head of the Biophysics division
During its existence (1979 to 2007), the ‘first’ Osnabrück biophysics division gained significant insights into the molecular mechanisms of bioenergetics, in particular oxygenic photosynthesis, ATP synthesis and vectorial electron and proton transport. Methodologically, the division relied on high-resolution laser spectroscopy and molecular genetics, among other things. Scientists of several nationalities worked together in the division, which produced a good dozen professors at universities in Germany and abroad.
