The School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences at Osnabrück University was founded on April 1, 2015. It was created as part of a merger of the two former Schools of Cultural Studies and Geography and includes the institutes and subjects of Geography, History, Art/Art Education, Social Sciences and Textile Studies.
With this broad spectrum of subjects from the School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences, the school is well networked with other schools at the university as well as outside the university. The school offers a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's degrees as well as teacher training degree programs for prospective students: From Art/Art Education and Textile Studies to European Studies, Geography, Political Science or History, those interested can choose their suitable study program.
Thanks to the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence in European Studies funded by the European Union, the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS), the Center for Democracy and Peace Research, the Japan Research Center, the cooperation with the German Foundation for Peace Research, the Institute of Early Modern Intercultural Studies (IKFN), the interdisciplinary Costa Rica Center, the Biogas Research Center and other organizations, the school in Osnabrück has a wide range of cooperation with foreign universities as part of exchange programs. The school's institutes and subjects maintain numerous Erasmus collaborations and also has a number of agreements outside of Erasmus to offer its students interesting study places in Europe and beyond.
