Services: an overview

Decentralized IT services according to the Media and IT Development Plan (MITEP) of Osnabrück University

According to the Media and IT Development Plan (MITEP) issued by the President of Osnabrück University, the tasks of local IT support in the supervision of decentralized IT consist of

  • coordinating and scheduling the IT staff of the schools or organizational units
  • Determining requirements and IT expansion planning
  • Administration of software licenses
  • Network coordination (in accordance with the usage regulations for the network of the University of Applied Sciences and Osnabrück University)
  • the guideline and control regarding the use of central IT facilities of the organizational unit
  • Coordination of the design of the WWW pages of the school or organizational unit
  • Supporting and securing the ongoing operation
  • Advice on data protection issues

The following technical tasks should also be carried out:

  • New installations, updates and troubleshooting
  • Adding to and expanding the IT systems
  • Informing, training and advising users

The following technologies are to be successively introduced:

  • Trouble ticket system
  • User profiles for computers
  • Remote administration
