Please observe the applicable security concepts when using the rooms.

The PC pool in building 47 (Katharinenstraße 1-3) is open for you at the following times:

Monday - Friday
8:00 - 22:00.

PC pool access

Access to the PC rooms (formerly CIP pool) has been switched to the Campuscard. Access for students is only possible with a registered Campuscard! Access using the old PC pool access card is no longer possible.

Registration options with the Campuscard

To gain access to the PC rooms, the  Campuscard must  be registered.
The user ID of the computer center (Stud.IP, MyUOS, Webmail) is required for registration. Please note that the activation can take about 1 hour after receiving the confirmation e-mail! If your card still does not work after this time, please  contact us.

Card return

The old PC pool access card can be returned during the office hours of the IT support team or by post. Please send the card together with a completed return form to the following address:

User login to the computers

To log on to the computers in the PC rooms in Katharinenstraße and in the library, the user ID of the computer center (Studip, MyUOS, Webmail) is required. Only enrolled students of Osnabrück University with valid access authorization and who accept the user regulations are permitted to log in.

In addition, lecturers for special events with non-students can apply for a course login for user registration at the Computer Center. To do so, please contact the  Computer Center directly.

Access regulations

For the IT facilities for student education in the School of Business Administration and Economics, School of Educational and Cultural Studies, School of Language and Literary Studies and School of Law.

§ 1 Legal basis
These usage regulations are based on section 3 of the framework usage regulations for IT facilities of the schools and central facilities of Osnabrück University, published in the official gazette of Osnabrück University, 1/1995.

§ 2 Definition
(1)IT facilities within the meaning of these regulations are computer systems, facility components, network components and peripheral devices as well as the software provided.

(2)Technical supervisors within the meaning of these regulations are the school's computer operations officer and the student assistants assigned to them. The named group of persons is specified by a separate notice in the computer rooms.

(3)Authorized users within the meaning of these regulations are university lecturers, staff and students of the School of Business Administration and Economics and the School of Educational and Cultural Studies. By issuing a user permit, the authorized user becomes a (legitimate) user. In justified individual cases, members of other disciplines may also be granted permission to use the library.

§ 3 Permission to use
(1)Permission to use the library must be applied for in writing using the appropriate form and submitting a photo ID and a valid student ID. If an access card is issued for specially secured system areas, a user fee will be charged.

(2)The user permit expires if the user leaves the group of authorized users or if the user does not use the system for a longer period of time (two semesters).

§4 Location and opening hours
The IT facilities provided are located in rooms E02, E03 and E04 of building 47 at Katharinenstraße 3. Use is possible on weekdays between 8.00 and 22.00.

Individual use of the rooms is not permitted when they are occupied by courses. Access may be further restricted for maintenance purposes and during the lecture-free period.

§ 5 Dedication and exclusion of liability
The IT facilities are intended for the study-related, self-directed or supervised training of student users. The use of these facilities for commercial or non-study purposes is not permitted. The technical supervisors are not liable for damages incurred by the users from the use of the computing facilities provided, in particular not for lack of availability of the facilities, incorrect computer results or damage to files and data carriers.

§6 Basic principles of use
The IT facilities are to be treated with care by the user (in their own interest). Operating instructions, general safety regulations and the house rules must be observed. In order to quickly rectify malfunctions of the computer workstations, any defects discovered during use should be reported immediately to the technical supervisors. Students should not attempt to rectify faults themselves. At the end of use, the computer used must be switched off. Printouts and records that are no longer required must be removed. If no other users remain in the computer room, any open windows must be closed and the lights switched off.

§ 7 Serious violations of the terms of use
The following are considered particularly serious violations of the terms of use:
1. Intentional or grossly negligent damage or destruction of the IT equipment
2. Theft of components of the IT equipment
3.Manipulation or deletion of the system configuration or software installation created by the technical supervisors
4.Introduction of persons without valid user authorization
5.Disruption and manipulation of network traffic
6.Commercial or unlawful use of IT facilities
7.Spying on, using or passing on network identifiers and passwords
8.Installing own or third-party software on the computers provided
9.Intentional or grossly negligent waste of network resources. Intentional or grossly negligent waste of resources of the IT facilities
10.Consumption of food and drink and smoking in the computer rooms and other parts of the building accessible to users
11.Repeated failure to follow instructions from technical supervisors

§ 8 Sanctions
The technical supervisors of the IT facilities will impose appropriate sanctions for serious violations of the usage regulations. Depending on the severity of the violation, restrictions or temporary withdrawal of the user permit may be considered. An appeal against the measure can be lodged with the computer operations officer. Notwithstanding this, the competent investigative bodies of the public prosecutor's office will be informed if the incident is relevant under criminal law. The user is also liable for any damage caused in accordance with civil law.
