FAQ
Which passwords are used for what?
Various passwords are currently issued and used at Osnabrück University.
- The LDAP password: This password is issued and managed by the computer center. Only the user and the computer center can change it. The LDAP password is valid for the services MyUOS (Stud.IP etc.), WLAN, RZ-Mail-Account (Webmail), the "Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching" program (formerly Imagine/Dreamspark). More information can be found on the website of the computer center.
- Domain passwords: These are passwords that are used in the respective domain. The IT support manages a separate domain for the School of Business Administration and Economics. These passwords are to be used for the employees' domain (FB9).
Where should I save data that should not be automatically backed up?
By default, your user profile data (documents/my own files, desktop, application settings, etc.) is not backed up automatically, as this delays logon times too much. You should always save important business data in your personal user drive (U:\). When using the Myshare service, make sure that you have versioning of libraries active and that synchronization runs smoothly in the background.
