Dogmatische Inhalte für Bildungsprozesse in Schule, Hochschule und Gemeinde zu erschließen, erfordert eine elementare, von lebensweltlichen Fragestellungen ausgehende Theologie. Hier setzt das vorliegende Handbuch mit didaktisch und religionspädagogisch profilierten Zugängen an. Es eröffnet lebensweltliche Annäherungen an dogmatische Fragestellungen im Kontext persönlicher Existenz und gesellschaftlicher Herausforderungen. Es bietet innovative Darstellungen klassischer dogmatischer Themen im Bereich der Gotteslehre, Christologie, Pneumatologie, Ekklesiologie und Eschatologie. Es stellt ausgewählte theologiegeschichtliche Positionen und Personen vor und erweitert sie um internationale und kritisch-aktuelle „new perspectives", wie Rassismuskritik, Queer-Theology und postkoloniale Theologie. Erstmals greift ein solches Lehrwerk die Frage nach Medien und Lernwegen der Dogmatik auf: Wie lässt sich Dogmatik lernen in der Arbeit mit literarischen Texten, Bildern, Liedern, Filmen oder social media, bei der Erkundung von Kirchenräumen oder im Kontext liturgischen Feierns?

Die genannten Inhalte und Themenfelder werden in ökumenischer Perspektive unter Beachtung konfessioneller Differenzen erschlossen. Das Handbuch richtet sich sowohl an Religionslehrkräfte als auch an Lehrende an Hochschulen. Es erscheint 2026 im Verlag Mohr-Siebeck in der Reihe utb.

This artwork is a collaborative and participative mosaic piece that traveled to Rome for a week in October of 2024 with 150 students and educators from 15 Catholic colleges and universities across the United States and students from Germany through an initiative called CENTERS (The Catholic Education Network To Engage Rome and Synodality). It was assembled live in an event in the Jesuit with the collaborative and Global Synod Delegates of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on Synodality: Communion, Participation, and Mission. Students and delegates wrote their prayers and hopes for the future of the synodal church and attached them to the piece. The center is the CENTERS logo with words to describe what the process of synodality, in their experience, "centers" for students and educators. The piece has continued to travel around through different synodal gatherings related to this collaborative since its creation. The facilitator of the project, Becky McIntyre, is a communal artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
