Welcome to the homepage of the IT support of the Institute of Geography at Osnabrück University! Here you will find an overview of our services for members of the Institute and - where possible - students.

Information on central services such as e-mail, WLAN, PrintCard, etc. can be found on the   Computer Center page. Many questions about Stud.IP are answered on the homepage of the   VirtUOS center.

We support all members of the Institute of Geography in the official use of hardware and software, whether through advice and implementation of the procurement of equipment, installation and maintenance of software, user training or support with technical problems of all kinds.

In addition to looking after the equipment loans and the homepage, we also take care of the documentation of the Institute's hardware and software inventory.

Various devices and programs are available to students and staff of the Institute of Geography to support teaching. These can be borrowed for an agreed period of time.

Overview of the available devices:

  • 6x tablets
  • 5x netbooks/detachables
  • 2x netbooks
  • 2x notebooks
  • 2x microphones (boundary and stand)
  • 1x webcam*
  • 2x presenter*
  • 1x projector*
  • 1x mobile printer*
  • 10x MaxQDA as USB stick license for Windows*
  • 5x F4 as USB stick license for Windows*
  • F4 30-day licenses for Windows and Mac*

    *Lending for students possible to a limited extent

MS Office is installed on all devices. In addition, there are several media players on all devices that enable the playback of all common media formats. GIS applications and SPSS are not installed, but can be set up on request, as can other programs. However, it is not possible for the borrower to install programs.

Borrowing is possible by prior arrangement during opening hours. In individual cases, borrowing is also possible at other times by prior arrangement.

Further assistance is available via the various service pages of the University's Homepage. If we are not available or present, you can contact our IT support of the schools in urgent cases.

Problems regarding your e-mail address or login difficulties in  StudIP,  HISinOne Exa or  MyUOS can only be solved by the Central IT Center of the university.

An overview of the  software that can be procured at a discount via the university's framework agreements can also be viewed on the IT Center's website. To reach their homepage,  log into the Intranet using your university user ID.

If you have any questions or encounter difficulties with the computer rooms in the  PC pools in Extension Building 15, please contact the responsible IT support team.
