Student Council
Hi there!
We are the geography student council. Our members come from all semesters, be it ambitious masters, long-term bachelors or first-year students. We are particularly happy to welcome the latter!
Our tasks are varied and of both, an academic and a social nature. On the one hand, we represent geography students in the various committees of the university, the school or our institute. This often involves questions of funding or teaching. The involvement of the entire student body is important to us. That's why we always ask for your opinion on important topics or facilitate direct exchange between students and lecturers at events such as the semester discussion.
On the other hand, our work serves to form a student community. We want to promote a sense of togetherness among the "Geos" and create a space for exchange. We do this in particular through our social events on various occasions. Our parties in the "Kleine Freiheit", our annual Christmas party and, of course, the spectacular Freshers' Week are legendary.
Our aim is to promote an active university life and to emphasize the interests of the students towards the university and the institute.
To achieve this, we look forward to your support and are always delighted to welcome new members. No matter whether your interests lie in the lecture hall or at the bar, we warmly welcome every "Geo" who drops by!
The best way to do this is every Monday, when we discuss current issues in our meeting from 18:00. This takes place in our student council room (02/101), affectionately known as "Cäf". In addition, the "Cäf" is open from Monday to Thursday from 12:00 to 14:00 during the semester. Everyone is welcome to join in for a coffee at this time.
We look forward to seeing you!
