Program Description

The Master’s program Economic and Social Geography at the Institute of Geography in Osnabrück offers an in-depth exploration of some of today’s most pressing global challenges—including environmental pollution, climate change, globalization, and migration. The program focuses thematically on the study of globalization, trade, migration, urban development, and the complex interactions between society and the environment.

Alongside advanced subject-specific knowledge, the curriculum emphasizes the development of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, project management skills, and key professional competencies. Practical seminars prepare students for careers in areas such as business development, real estate and climate management, and local and regional transport planning.

The program offers opportunities for individual specialization and interdisciplinary learning. Students can expand their expertise by engaging with related fields such as the social sciences, environmental studies, and business administration and economics—equipping them for a wide range of professional and academic pathways.
