Carolin Janssen

Carolin Janssen has been a research associate in the Resource Management working group at Osnabrück University since March 2023. At the Institute of Geography, she teaches on the causes of water scarcity and governance approaches to countering it, as well as on the relevance of internal transformation processes for shaping a sustainable, socially just future in line with the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals. The topic of water scarcity also plays a central role in her doctoral project. Specifically, she is dedicated to analyzing narratives and narratives and the interplay between them and the participatory network structures of water governance in Germany.

In addition, Carolin Janssen is a research assistant at the Department of Environmental Economics at the School of Business Administration and  Economics, where she supports the development and implementation of an innovative learning concept for the targeted promotion of the emotional and cognitive skills and strengths that people need to actively participate in and shape sustainability transformations.

Both during her studies in International Industrial Engineering and Management and during her subsequent Master's degree in Environmental Systems and Resource Management, Carolin Janssen worked intensively on global supply chains and production networks, particularly in the area of food systems. Her work to date has centered on exploring the multitude of visions and perspectives that people from different cultural and disciplinary backgrounds have for and on a socially just and ecologically sustainable future. As part of an interdisciplinary research team, she also investigated how sustainability in cocoa production and chocolate consumption can be supported and promoted as part of the  CoVaCoa project.
