Laura Chihab
Research assistant
Member of the Geography Didactics working group
Research focus: Racism-critical professional skills development of geography teachers, racism-critical educational processes in digitality, documentary method, cross-curricular and cross-phase teacher education
Laura Chihab has been working as a research assistant in the Geography Didactics working group at the Institute of Geography since 2023. In her doctoral project, she deals with professionalization processes of prospective geography teachers that are critical of racism. In particular, she is looking at informal learning processes in the context of digitality.
Laura Chihab studied Geography and English as a Secondary Teacher Education (Gymnasium) at the University of Frankfurt am Main from 2012 to 2017. Since January 2019, she has been working there as a research assistant at the Institute of Human Geography in the Geography and its Didactics working group. Initially, she worked here on the project "The Next Level - Networked Development of Teacher Education" in the social science-historical subject network on the planning and implementation of cross-disciplinary and cross-phase educational formats for teachers at all stages of education and training. Since March 2023, she has also been coordinating the DigiTeLL sub-project "LearnTeaMS - Learning and Teaching in Migration Societies", which develops and implements interdisciplinary self-learning tools for an Open Educational Resource (OER) in the context of racism and media-critical teaching and evaluates them with regard to their transferability and dissemination for teacher and university education.
