Swedish Luciafest

Swedish Festival of Lights at Osnabrück University! Everyone is invited to take part in the Lucia procession and sing Swedish songs together with the "Nymans Dans".

The Luciafest takes place in Sweden every year on December 13. Christians celebrate Saint Lucia on this day, but until the calendar reform it was also the shortest day of the year, i.e. a solstice celebration. In the Swedish tradition, carols are sung for the Lucia festival, dressed in white and with wreaths of lights.

The event is a great opportunity to get into the pre-Christmas spirit and enjoy a piece of Swedish culture! At Osnabrück University, it is traditionally organized by the Language Center in December.

If you would like to sing along or help organize the Luciafest in some other way, please contact Christiane Vortmeyer or Vera Johanterwage by e-mail:
