Welcome Week for International Exchange Students

Our Welcome Week for new international exchange students at Osnabrück University in the summer semester 2026 will take place from March 30 to April 2, 2026. During this time, you can expect a varied program with information events, city and campus tours, get-togethers and various excursions. The updated program will be published during the summer.

Welcome Week program in the summer semester 2026

08:30–10:00 | Welcome Session for new exchange students

Meeting Point: Building 15, Room E16

  • Distribution of information folders/bags „
  • Payment for excursion to Bremen (2 €) and the welcome breakfast (3€) „
  • Welcome „
  • Division into groups for registration at Citizens’ Office (Bürgeramt), bank appointments and campus tour

10:00 | Appointments with the Citizen’s Office

Meeting Point: Stadthaus, Natruper-Tor-Wall 5, Osnabrück

  • Your Passport
  • Your landlords’ certificate (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung)

  • Information on student residences and help with formalities

10:30 | Digital Application for Residence Permit with the Foreigners’ Office

Meeting point: Building 15, Room E16

Only for students who entered Germany without a visa or with a short-term visa!

Please bring:

  • Scan of your passport
  • Scan of the entry stamp (if a visa was not necessary for entry)
  • Scan of the enrolment certificate, admission to study in Osnabrück
  • Scan of your visa, if available
  • Scan of health insurance, proof of funding, scholarship certificate (if applicable)
  • Scan of housing provider confirmation
  • Registration confirmation (City of Osnabrück)

If a document is not available as a scan, it can also be scanned directly with a smartphone camera during the registration process with the immigration office.

Get to know your fellow exchange students during this event while enjoying some free drinks, snacks and fun activities. Osnabrück’s twin city ambassadors from the Netherlands, Turkey, UK and France will also join us.

9:00 | Welcome Breakfast

Please register via the arrival survey by 15 March 2026.

Costs: 3€, hot drinks not included

Appointments will be arranged individually after submitting the documents to the Foreigners’ Office.

Please go directly to the Foreigners‘ Office, Natruper-Tor-Wall 5, 49076 Osnabrück in good time for your appointment.

Please bring:

  • a biometric passport photo with a light background
  • €100 in cash (with the exception of ERASMUS/DAAD scholarship holders)
  • Your passport
