Welcoming Ceremony for our First Semester Students
During the Introductory Week ("fresher's week") you will get to know your most important contact persons, the campus and your fellow students. The highlight every year is the big official Welcoming Ceremony for Freshers in OsnabrückHalle! Here you will be welcomed not only by the Presidential Board of the University, but also by the management of the City of Osnabrück, the Student Government and many more. Entertainment will be provided by shows from the University Sports Center and our university music! And you can get an overview of Osnabrück campus life and what the city has to offer at numerous information stands.
What can you expect?
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, admission to the OsnabrückHalle starts at 9:15 a.m. The official welcome program will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Europa-Saal:

- Welcome address: Osnabrück University President’s Cabinet
- Video clip "Wissen_schafft: Zukunft"
- Student Government
- Music: Unimusik
- City of Osnabrück: Katharina Pötter, Lord Mayor
- Osnabrück Student Services: Stefan Kobilke, Managing Director
- Show interlude: University Sports Center
- Closing remarks: Osnabrück University President’s Cabinet

If you start studying at Osnabrück University, you will receive very special support: experienced students - so-called OSKAs - will accompany you through your first semester.
