Erasmus+ Mobility of Teachers (STA)
As part of the Mobility for Teaching Purposes at Erasmus Partner Universities (STA), Osnabrück University offers a Staff Mobility (STA1) and Company Staff Mobility (STA2).
Erasmus supports guest lectureships at European partner universities (STA1) that are in possession of an Erasmus University Charter. Through their stay, the guest lecturers should strengthen the European dimension of the host university, complement its range of courses and impart their specialized knowledge to students who may not be able or do not want to study abroad. The exchange should contribute to developing joint study programs between the two partner universities, incluging the exchange of teaching content and methods. Teaching exchanges must last at least two days (except for the UK, where stays must last at least five days) and can last up to a maximum of ten days. A teaching stay must comprise at least 8 teaching hours per week (or a shorter period of stay). If the mobility lasts longer than one week, the minimum number of teaching hours for an incomplete week should be calculated in proportion to the duration of the incomplete week in question (formula: 8 hours per five days times the number of additional days).
Funding is also available for teaching mobilities for company personnel from abroad at German universities (STA2) in order to strengthen cooperation between universities and commercial enterprises.
Funding is available for the following group of people:
- Lecturers who are employed under contract at the university
- Emeritus professors and retired lecturers who are employed under contract at the university
- Research assistants
- Company personnel (Incoming)
Application procedure
Funding for Erasmus teaching mobilities is usually announced by e-mail via the Erasmus departmental coordinators before the start of each winter semester. After the first round of applications has been completed (deadline October 31, 2025), there is still funding available for 2026. Further applications for Erasmus teaching mobilities can therefore be submitted to the International Office at any time. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received and decided upon depending on the availability of funds. Applications should be submitted at least 4 weeks before the planned start date of the mobility.
In our Exchange database, interested lecturers can view the teaching staff mobilities contractually agreed for 2025/26 with the respective European partner universities. If you would like to submit an application for a teaching mobility, please log in to the Online portal with your LDAP ID and start the online application there. The documents to be submitted with the online application are the Mobility Agreement (DOCX, 51 kB), which must be drawn up together with the host institution, and, if applicable, the Declaration of Honor for Green Travel (PDF, 170 kB). Please have the Mobility Agreement signed by all parties (for the “sending institution,” please have the document signed by your Erasmus+ departmental coordinator).

Selection procedure
The decision on the allocation of funds will be made – where necessary if funds are not sufficient – in cooperation with an internal selection committee. The committee will base its decision on the selection criteria (e.g. first-time application, funding of young researchers, reciprocity, links to other exchange activities) in accordance with EU guidelines.
Erasmus+ with partner countries (Erasmus+ KA171)
For some departments, you can also find exchange places in the framework of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (Erasmus+ with partner countries outside of Europe) in the exchange database. For these, prior consultation with the respective project coordinator (listed under “Hinweis” for each exchange opportunity) is required.
