Scientists for Future lecture: Heavy rain hazards

Current topic: Coping with heavy rain hazards at municipal level - strategies and building blocks for implementation.

Extreme weather events are expected to increase as a result of the climate catastrophe. In this context, the term "heavy rain" comes up again and again. But what exactly is heavy rainfall, what are the risks, how can these risks be managed and what is actually needed?

The lecture will shed light on why we are dealing with heavy rainfall, why the municipal level is crucial in coping with it, why landscape is so important and why communication is one of the most important building blocks for implementing measures.

Speakers: Prof. Dr. Stefan Taeger and M. Eng. Malte Schünemann, Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Landscape Architecture

Admission is from 6:30 p.m. For those who cannot be there, there will be a  livestream.

With the lecture series "Climate and Biodiversity in Crisis: Paths to a Sustainable Future", Scientists for Future would like to make scientific findings and the resulting opportunities for action towards a sustainable way of life accessible to a broad public. It is aimed at all interested citizens. In addition to technical solutions (e.g. renewable energies), the presentations will also cover legal, economic and social aspects that are essential for political implementation and the creation of structural conditions for effective climate protection.
