Equality Data is the Basis for Strategic and Operational Action

Equality data depicts the current situation and makes inequalities visible. I therefore see it as an essential feature of a university's strategic orientation and its day-to-day activities. Equality data, especially data on the representation of gender and other diversity dimensions, is the foundation on which gender equality actions and measures are built.

I have been passionate about data, statistics and research methods in education since my studies in Education Science with a focus on adult education/continuing education. In my subsequent work as a research assistant in the Research Methods / Empirical Educational Research working group at the University of Münster and my Doctorate in the field of Higher Education Research, I consolidated this passion. The second strong pillar of my interest and competence profile is gender equality measure and the theoretical and empirical study of gender and diversity. I gained practical university experience as a Decentralized Equal Opportunity Representative, gender equality actor in the Senate and spokesperson for a gender research network at the University of Münster, thus expanding my theoretical and practical knowledge of gender equality measures.

As coordinator for Equality Controlling, I can combine my two passions. I am convinced that making visible and analyzing inequalities within the complex university system is an essential building block for pursuing important gender equality goals, implementing measures and working together to further consolidate the path towards a fairer university.
