The Department of Botany at the Faculty of Biology/Chemistry of the University of Osnabrück is seeking, starting March 1, 2026, a

Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(salary group E 13 TV-L, 65%)


initially for the duration of three years.

The project of the DFG Research Unit „Innovation and Coevolution in sexual reproduction of plants“ (ICIPS, FOR 5098,  https://dfg-icips.org) investigates the role of TGA transcription factors and their ROXY co-regulators. TGA/ROXY functions and redox processes will be studied in the context of reproductive organ development and adaptation to stress factors in evolutionarily informative liverworts and Arabidopsis thaliana.


Your tasks:

  • Molecular and morphological analyses of TGA/ROXY functions
  • Use of Marchantia polymorpha and the new amphibious liverwort model system Riccia fluitans
  • Expression, metabolome und redox sensor analyses
  • Data evaluation and publication writing
  • Opportunity to work towards a PhD outside working hours

Requirements for application:

  • Master’s degree (M.Sc. or comparable) in biology or related fields
  • High motivation and interest in linking genetic, cell biological, and evolutionary aspects
  • Work experience with molecular and/or cell biological techniques

Ideally, you possess:

  • Experience with with Arabidopsis and/or bryophyte model organisms
  • Knowledge in bioinformatic methods
  • Structured, independent and team-oriented working style
  • Excellent command of English (oral and written)
