Samantha Quaas has been a doctoral student in the Geo- and Aquatic Ecology working group at Osnabrück University since November 2023. As a lecturer at the Institute of Geography, she is responsible for teaching activities such as the methods course: field and laboratory methods course. As part of various projects and teaching activities at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, she also focuses on macrozoobenthos.
In her Doctorate, she is investigating the impact of invasive North American crayfish species on our native aquatic biocoenoses and developing sustainable management measures for Central European inland waters.
Prior to her Doctorate, Samantha Quaas studied "Biology" (B. Sc.) and then "Soil, Waters, Contaminated Sites" with a focus on waters and water protection (M. Sc.) at Osnabrück University and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. As part of her master's thesis, she investigated the effects of the invasive signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus (North American crayfish species) on the native common bullhead Cottus gobio in the Düte in the Osnabrück region and was awarded the 2021 Research and Funding Award of the Osnabrück District Nature Conservation Foundation.
