University music is joining forces again this summer semester: the program includes the symphonic psalm "Le Roi David". Concerts are on Monday, July 14, at 7.30 pm, in St. Katharinen, Osnabrück, and the following Tuesday at 7 pm, in St. Mauritius, in Ibbenbüren. Admission is free.
The choirs and the symphony orchestra of the university as well as the soloists Sigrid Heidemann (soprano), Kathrin Brauer (alto) and Vincent Debus (tenor) will take part. The narrator is Annette Kristina Banse; the conductor is University Music Director Joachim Siegel

The French-Swiss composer Arthur Honegger wrote the piece in 1921. Initially conceived as a stage play, it was reworked into an oratorio for soprano, alto and tenor solo, mixed choir and symphony orchestra in 1923. Together with a narrator, the music describes the eventful life of the Old Testament monarch extremely effectively. The dramatic-illustrative, almost scenic music is immediately captivating and brings the story to life. The German translation is by Hans Reinhart.
