The handout also contains helpful recommendations that can make using AI easier and therefore lead to better results. For example, you will find out which parameters a prompt should include and which specific applications of AI can support you in the different writing phases.
Here you will find handouts on various questions about academic writing that we are frequently asked in consultations. If required, further questions can be addressed to the Writing Center at any time.

Managing the academic writing process
Brief description:
In this self-study unit, you will find many tips and techniques to familiarize yourself with and better manage your own academic writing process. You can discover your writing type(s) using self-tests and learn which methods might be suitable for which stage of the writing process. The aim is to make you aware of the many small steps that lead to a successful writing project and to develop strategies for each of these steps, be it for planning, research, rough drafting or the subsequent revision with fine-tuning. If you are already an experienced writer, this MiMo can also serve as an overview, especially the appendix with alphabetically listed writing strategies.
Schreibtypentest of the Writing Center of the Goethe University Frankfurt
Brief description:
The writing type test helps to reflect your own writing. By selecting statements that match your own writing approach, you can find out what type of writer you are. In doing so, your own approach does not necessarily relate to a single writing type; instead, it is often a mixture of different writing types. The test evaluates the percentage shares of the different writing types. For each writing type, there are interesting information regarding the typical strengths and weaknesses of the writing approach. This is helpful for future writing processes, as one can use this knowledge to find and develop suitable methods to counteract potential weaknesses.
