DigiLab opens its doors to the public

The DigiLab was set up at the university three years ago and from July 17, the doors of the makerspace in Seminarstraße 20, room 15/E27, will be open to the general public on Thursdays from 1 to 5 pm.

The DigiLab offers a place where students and teachers can explore and strengthen their creativity and skills in the age of digitalization. Under the motto "Living digital learning", the aim is to learn how to use new technologies and services by trying them out and experimenting. A makerspace is an open workshop in which various technical and digital devices are made available. "With the help of instructions and tutorials on site, you can teach yourself how to use the devices, but of course get support from trained staff if needed," explains Virginia Jagusch from Osnabrück University. The special thing about the DigiLab is that use of the equipment is free of charge, you just need to bring your own materials. Whether you want to 3D print a spare part, quickly solder something together or print a T-shirt - all this and many other creative projects can be carried out in the DigiLab. However, people under the age of 14 may only use the equipment under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Members of the university can also use the DigiLab during the new opening hours from July 21 from Monday to Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
