The meeting marked the launch of the new research network "Global Virtual Work: Interdisciplinary Perspectives and Integrative Approaches", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The DFG network was founded by Dr. Tobias Blay from the University of Göttingen and supported by Prof. Dr. Sofia Schöbel from Osnabrück University.
"Global virtual work has long since become a central component of modern organizations. Nevertheless, research on this topic is still highly fragmented," says Sofia Schöbel, who holds the professorship for Digital Innovation and Information Systems in Osnabrück.
"In view of the profound changes in globally active organizations, which have been accelerated by digitalization and the COVID-19 pandemic, the network aims to create an integrated understanding of these new forms of work," says Schöbel. Perspectives from different disciplines should be brought together and a common foundation laid for future research.
Scientists from different fields are therefore involved in the new network, namely International Management, Information Systems, Human Resources Management and Organizational Behaviour.
The project is scheduled to run for two years and includes three meetings, which will take place at different locations.
