This winter semester, the symphony orchestra of Osnabrück University is taking a musical look at Eastern Europe, which not only aims to cultivate traditional repertoire, but also to make lesser-known works accessible in this country. On Sunday, January 25, 2026, it will therefore perform works by Stanislaw Moniuszko, Bedřich Smetana and Wassily Sergejewitsch Kalinnikow in the Bonnuskirche in Osnabrück.
No composition is probably more an expression of the Czech soul than Bedřich Smetana's famous Moldau. The program combines this true hit of classical music with works that are equally worth listening to: Stanislaw Moniuszko's "Fantastic Overture Bajka" will open the concert. It uses folk tunes and captivates with lively melodies. The first symphony by Wassily Kalinnikow from 1895 is also a discovery.
The concert starts at 7.30 pm. Admission is free.
