Parallelstudium
You are considered to be pursuing parallel studies if you are enrolled in two or more degree programs simultaneously at one or more institutions of higher education and are leading to a separate degree in each program.
In principle, students may pursue concurrent studies if it is possible to study at both institutions at the same time. There is no entitlement that the degree programs will be completed within the standard period of study (cf. § 12 of the Enrollment Regulations).
In principle, it is not a parallel course of study if you wish to provisionally enrol in the Master's degree program that builds on your Bachelor's degree at the same time.
If you would like to take up another Bachelor's or Master's degree program parallel to your previous Bachelor's or Master's degree program, this is a parallel degree program.
If you are already enrolled in a degree program with restricted admission and you wish to take up a further degree program with restricted admission, this is only possible in justified exceptional cases in accordance with § 12 of Osnabrück University's enrollment regulations. In this case, a justification must be submitted stating that the planned course of study is a meaningful addition to the course of study first taken up and that simultaneous study in both courses of study is possible.
If you would like to take up another Bachelor's or Master's degree program at Osnabrück University in parallel to your previous Bachelor's or Master's degree program at another university, this is a parallel degree program.
In these cases, parts of the semester fee due can be waived. The semester fee is generally charged at every university. However, there are possibilities for exemption from double payment of fees (semester ticket, Student Government fee, student union fee and, if applicable, long-term study fees), which will be checked by the Admissions Office. A certificate of enrollment for the coming semester and a detailed payment overview (with a list of the individual components of the semester fee) from the other university must therefore be submitted as proof during the application process.
Long-term tuition fees
If you have to pay long-term tuition fees according to § 12 NHG and you are enrolled at one or more universities in Lower Saxony under state responsibility, the long-term tuition fees according to § 13 NHG only have to be paid at one university.
