Electronics specializing in Energy and Building Technology

You will be part of Osnabrück University's technical building management and work in a team with our experienced technical staff.

The electrical workshop is part of the workshop competence center and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electrical systems at the university.

What do electronics technicians specializing in energy and building technology do?

Training content

  • Construction and planning of technical building systems

  • Installation of electrical systems and lighting technology

  • Installation and commissioning of electrical systems

  • Assembling and installing networks

  • Maintenance and repair of electrical systems

  • Measuring and testing electrical systems and components

  • Determining the causes of faults and rectifying them

How does the apprenticeship work?

During your three and a half year apprenticeship, you will be a permanent member of our team of energy and building technology specialists right from the start and will support the planning and organization of various electrical installations.

In addition to commissioning various components such as switches, sockets and lighting fixtures, you will also be responsible for carrying out maintenance work on our building technology. Step by step, you will be introduced to troubleshooting and fault rectification on the electrical systems. You will also be able to draw up measurement and test reports.

Thanks to the variety of different buildings, you will have the opportunity to get to know a wide technical range on a daily basis: from standard installations in older buildings to more technically complex and sophisticated systems in the campus area.

The theoretical training takes place at the  Berufsbildende Schule Brinkstraße (BBS).

In addition, inter-company training courses are held at the Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim  Handwerkskammer (HWK).

What requirements do I need to fulfill?

  • A qualified secondary school leaving certificate, intermediate school leaving certificate or A-levels
  • An interest in electronics, Electrical Engineering and technology in buildings
  • technical understanding
  • manual dexterity
  • A sense of responsibility, reliability and flexibility

What further training opportunities are there?

After successfully completing the apprenticeship and fulfilling the relevant access requirements, the following further training opportunities are available:

  • Master craftsman
  • State-certified technician
  • Degree course
