Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship

Osnabrück University has been participating in the ‘Deutschlandstipendium’ program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for years in order to support its outstanding students at an early stage and in this way support the training of qualified junior staff.
The scholarships of 300 euros per month are funded in equal parts by the federal government and private sponsors, foundations or companies. This means that the federal government supports a private donation of 150 euros per month with an additional 150 euros.

Osnabrück University is taking part in this program in the interests of its students and the future viability of the city and region of Osnabrück.
In the winter semester 2024/2025, Osnabrück University was able to award 45 scholarships (as of 21 November 2024) to particularly talented, high-performing and committed students.

The number of scholarships awarded depended on the amount of private funding raised. Students who were enrolled in undergraduate degree programs or consecutive Master's degree programmes at Osnabrück University and who had not exceeded the standard period of study for the degree program were eligible for funding. The scholarships were awarded in accordance with the guidelines (PDF, 403 kB).

Achievement and aptitude could be demonstrated in particular by

a) the average grade of the higher education entrance qualification, taking particular account of the individual grades relevant to the chosen degree program,
b) the special qualification that entitles the applicant to study the respective degree program at Osnabrück University,
c) the academic achievements to date, in particular the ECTS points achieved or the results of an intermediate examination, for students on a Master's degree program also the final grade of the previous degree program.

The following criteria were also taken into account in the overall assessment of potential:

1. special achievements, honours and prizes, previous employment and internships,
2. extracurricular or extracurricular commitment such as voluntary work, social, societal, university policy or political commitment or participation in religious societies, associations or clubs,
3. special personal or family circumstances such as illness and disability, caring for own children, especially as a single parent, or close relatives in need of care, working in the family business, gainful employment while studying, family origin or a migration background.

Applications for the winter semester 2024/2025 could be submitted from 1 May 2024 to 15 June 2024 via a central application portal.
