Postdoctoral Research Associate (m/f/d)
(E 13 TV-L, 100%)
The Department of Plant Physiology of the Faculty of Biology/Chemistry at the University of Osnabrück is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to commence work at the earliest possible date.
This is a temporary position limited for three years, working on a project funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK).
The department investigates the physiological relevance of protein half-life and stability in plants in vivo and in vitro using biochemical, genetic and protein analytical methods in model and non-model systems. One focus is on post-translational protein modifications and their influence on plant phenotypes and their response to the environment.
Your duties:
- Work on physiological roles of short protein half-lives in plants with focus on ethylene signalling, cysteine proteases and programmed cell death
- Identification of protein modifications with focus on endoproteolytic cleavage and amino-terminal processing such as arginylation as well as ubiquitination including biochemical in vitro reconstitution
- Establishment of approaches linking biochemical data with physiological relevance
Requirements:
- Completed Master’s of Science degree (M.Sc.)
- Completed doctorate in the fields of biology or biochemistry with excellent marks and a focus on plant molecular biology and protein biochemistry and a publication record
- Practical experience in molecular plant sciences, molecular biology, protein biochemistry and protein analytics
Additional qualifications:
- Relevant experience in amino-terminal protein modifications and approaches addressing protein half-live
- First author publications in community-recognized and peer-reviewed journals
We offer:
- Fascinating research topics
- A developing department with the opportunity to help shape the research environment
- State-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure in a collaborative working environment
- Newly renovated laboratories and outstanding plant cultivation facilities (move-in in spring 2026)
- Collaboration in both international and interdisciplinary networks
- Structured training and support programs at University of Osnabruck for early career researchers
The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis.
