Following the opinion of the University Council and subject to appointment by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, they will take up their three-year terms of office on October 1.historian and migration researcher Prof. Dr. Jochen Oltmer was reappointed as part-time Vice President for Studies and Teaching. Political scientist Prof. Dr. Andrea Lenschow was re-elected as part-time Vice President for International Affairs, Diversity and Academic Staff Development. The Senate also elected the part-time Vice President for Research, Social Dialog and Outreach, Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Kühnberger, for a further term of office.
Prof. Dr. Jochen Oltmer has been teaching and researching at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at Osnabrück University since the 1990s. "Society is changing rapidly, and studying and teaching will continue to change and have to change at an accelerated pace. The better we succeed in making our study structures more flexible and allowing innovations in studies and teaching, the better we will be able to respond to future challenges. We will continue to focus on flexibility and greater innovative capacity in the future," says Prof. Oltmer, who has been a member of the Executive Board since 1 October 2022.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Lenschow has been Professor of European Integration and Politics at Osnabrück University since 2007 and has been a member of the Executive Board since October 1, 2022. "In my next term of office, it is particularly important to me to anchor the horizontal goals of internationalization and equal opportunities even more deeply in the organizational culture and procedures of our university in light of the strategies and guidelines adopted last year and to make career paths more transparent, especially in the so-called academic mid-level faculty," explains Prof. Lenschow.
Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Kühnberger, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Institute of Cognitive Science at Osnabrück University since 2009, would like to focus in particular on the area of the so-called third mission: "I am convinced that the university will also develop in science communication, research-based start-up activities, social entrepreneurship and cooperation with industry to a similar extent as has been the case in basic research for some time," says Prof. Kühnberger, who has been a member of the Presidential Board since October 1, 2019.
Dr. Wilfried Hötker, the full-time Vice President for Human Resources and Finance, and Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl, the President of Osnabrück University, who will also take up a further term of office on 1 October, will remain members of the Executive Board. "I am delighted that the Senate has accepted my proposals and that we can continue to work together as a team. I would like to thank everyone for this decision, which I am convinced will give us the personnel stability to continue to successfully shape the future of our university in these challenging times," said Prof. Menzel-Riedl.
