Appointed: Prof. Andreas Focks!

Since February 1, he has held the W2 professorship "Environmental Systems Modeling" for life. Congratulations!

Prof. Dr. Fock's research focuses on the development of mathematical models to describe biochemical and ecological processes. Applications lie in particular in the areas of environmental risk assessment of chemicals and in the bioeconomy, for example for the simulation of biogas production and industrial fermentation processes.

Prof. Focks is also Managing Director of the interdisciplinary  Research Center for Environmental Systems Research.

Biologist Co-author of a book on animal adaptation strategies

Wild and domestic animals are excellent at adapting to changing environmental conditions. This is shown by behavioral researchers Prof. Dr. Norbert Sachser (University of Münster) and Dr. Niklas Kästner from Osnabrück University in a book published by Rowohlt-Verlag.
