Art meets choral music: Shakespeare in sound and color

Music and painting can be experienced by visitors to the extraordinary performance by the Osnabrück University Chamber Choir at "Shakespeare's Auction" in the Osnabrück Kunsthalle.

An extraordinary concert format by the Osnabrück University Chamber Choir awaits the audience at the Osnabrück Kunsthalle: under the title "Shakespeare's Auction", music, painting and improvisation will come together in an inspiring combination on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Few playwrights have inspired composers to create choral music as much as William Shakespeare. His works are rich in songs and lyrical scenes - from cheerful or melancholy love songs to singing magical creatures and poetic images of nature. These visually and emotionally intense texts now become the starting point for a unique concert experience.

Four former singers of the Osnabrück University Chamber Choir, now qualified art teachers, paint a picture live during each of the choral works and are inspired by the music in the room. Saxophonist Inga Dopjans-Steenken uses these impressions to create improvisational transitions. After the concert, the works of art will be auctioned off for the benefit of university music.

The concert starts at 7.30 pm. Admission is free.
