Minister Falko Mohrs finds out about "AI for Science"

Osnabrück University presents AI research at the Hannover Messe

How does artificial intelligence become an active researcher? Osnabrück University is providing answers to this question at the Hannover Messe.

The university will be exhibiting at the joint stand of the universities in Lower Saxony. The focus is on the "AI Scientist" exhibit, which provides insights into the future of artificial intelligence in research and industry.

"Artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally changing how we solve problems. However, its greatest influence in science and industry still lies ahead of us: AI as an active part of research," explains Prof. Dr. Sebastian Musslick, who, together with Prof. Dr. Pascal Nieters, Dr. Philipp Rahe and Prof. Dr. Andreas Focks, provided information at the stand about the "AI for Science" initiative, which emerged from the Research Center Data Science and the Institute of Cognitive Science.

As part of this initiative, Osnabrück University is developing AI systems that can independently design experiments and generate new knowledge. "These systems help to better understand human behavior, identify natural laws and decipher complex processes," says Musslick. At the same time, they open up new forms of collaboration between humans and AI in research.

There is great interest in the new systems: visitors to the stand included Falko Mohrs, Lower Saxony's Minister for Science and Culture, and Melanie Walter, Minister for Europe and Regional Development.
