Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(salary grade E 13 TV-L, 50%)

The Group of Didactics of Biology at the School of Biology/Chemistry of the University of Osnabrück is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to commence work at the earliest possible date for a duration of three years.

Your Duties:

  • Active participation in research and teaching within biology teacher education
  • Dedicated supervision of students – including examinations as well as the supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
  • research projects with a focus on biology education and/or environmental psychology
  • Opportunity to pursue a doctorate in the field of “Biodiversity Conservation – Human Dimensions of Wildlife”, with a particular emphasis on native birds as a focal organism group, examined from both a social science and an ecological perspective

Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to hold a teacher-training degree in biology (e.g. First State Examination for Secondary Education, Master of Education) or an academic university degree in biology, environmental sciences, psychology (e.g. environmental psychology), or a related discipline

Additional qualifications:

  • Experience in teacher training
  • Willingness to take on other tasks according to future requirements
  • Knowledge of common theoretical approaches in didactics of biology and/or environmental psychological research
  • Interest and experience with methods of quantitative empirical social research (especially in the use of the software SPSS, R and/or MAXQDA)
  • Interest in research questions addressing pro-environmental behavior with a focus on field ornithology
  • excellent language skills in German and English
