Doctorate
Doctorates in psychology are intended to qualify students for independent scientific work in university and non-university scientific and research institutions as well as application-related fields of work. In particular, the Doctorate should serve to train young academics.
Doctorates are intended to impart in-depth specialist knowledge and methodological skills, in particular the ability to work independently in an academic capacity. In addition to dealing with one's own specialist subject, it should provide the opportunity to deal with other current research areas and to discuss open research problems.
The Doctorate should also serve to acquire general key qualifications, such as publishing in English, as well as further methodological qualifications. The Doctorate serves as proof of the ability to carry out in-depth independent scientific work and is demonstrated by a scientific paper (dissertation) and an oral examination (disputation).
