Master in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy
The consecutive Master's degree course "Psychology: Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy" enables students to deepen their existing basic knowledge in a targeted manner. In addition to in-depth methodological training, the course allows a high degree of specialization and profile development. Competencies acquired on the Bachelor's degree course can be expanded, particularly in the field of psychotherapy. The overarching qualification goal of the Master's degree course is to prepare students for a career in psychotherapy.
PrerequisiteFor admission to this degree course, you must have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in Psychology that meets the requirements of the licensing regulations for psychotherapists (PsychThApprO dated 04.03.2020).

Students should acquire the following skills, among others:
- Scientific work (incl. research planning, research methods, statistical tests, evaluation of empirical studies)
- Interpretation of research results
- Professional communication with patients using therapeutic conversation techniques and interventions
- Interdisciplinary thinking and acting as well as self-management and time management
- Selection of appropriate psychological diagnostic tools and their application and evaluation
- Professional written and oral presentation as well as skills in oral case presentation and writing a case report
- Ability to critically reflect on one's own psychotherapeutic actions and receive feedback
- Skills in therapy planning and implementation of individual interventions
- Ability to transfer scientific findings to specific cases
The Master's degree course in Psychology: Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy was designed on the basis of the licensing regulations and contains all the content required for licensing in the Master's degree course. It therefore represents a standard admission requirement for the licensing examination to become a psychotherapist.
