Beschreibung

This lecture course (which should be attended together with the “Concepts-and-Interpretations” course) is designed for second-semester BA students who prepare for the Modulabschlussprüfung (B-LK, B1). It intends to offer a historical survey of literatures and cultures in the English-speaking world and to provide an introduction to interpreting texts from a historical point of view. Texts to be discussed will cover the time from the 16th century to the present, as well as Britain, Ireland, the U. S., India, Canada and Australia.
In preparation of the Modulabschlussprüfung (envisaged for 4 July 2023), please read:
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice,
James Fenimore Cooper, The Last of the Mohicans,
Alice Munro, Selected Stories (Vintage ed, ISBN 978-0099732419).
You can acquire these texts at zur Heide bookshop, Dielingerstr. 42B.
