Grammar and its categories are often characterized as something clear, fixed, and easily definable. This course will explore the contrary idea: grammar as something muddy, unstable, and gradient, in a word: fuzzy.
Participants should have a sound knowledge of traditional (“school”) grammar. In a hands-on approach they will have to work on a research project of their own choice which deals with one exemplary case of fuzziness in grammar. The results of their research will be presented and discussed in class.
